Who is this?
This is the latest (hopefully longer living) blog of Sam Hampton-Smith. I live and work in Scotland.
Apparently I’m a rare breed; I’m a paid up graphic/visual designer but I also code pretty well. I do a lot of web work, print design & layout and, increasingly, motion design. Aside from that, I also spend time illustrating and writing—mainly for magazines (but I’m open to books). I’m a complete pedant, especially when it comes to grammar & typography (do you really mean “it’s” and did you lose or get loose?).
When I’m not working I’m kept busy entertaining/shouting at three fairly small children. I’ve got 3 guitars, a ukulele and a piano, but a less than stunning singing voice. I love photography and film-making, reading and drawing. I really enjoy cooking, especially if it involves trying a new recipe. I’m not nearly as fit as I should be; when it’s not bitter outside I try to get out on my bike, but it tends to get shoved to the back of the shed and forgotten about a bit too much.
I have to have pictures hanging straight, unless they’re designed to hang at an angle.
